Able to Tread upon the Heights
It can be real scary to climb a high, steep mountain path. This is especially true when we have to walk close to the edge, so we look down and know we would never survive if we fell off. In these cases, we need to be surefooted and strong. The same is true in life, when we go through those scary times.
Habakkuk told us how He handled those times. (Habakkuk 3:17) He told us that the Sovereign Lord was His strength. The Lord made him surefooted as a deer, able to tread upon the heights. That is a great word picture for us to consider as we seek to experience what the prophet had experienced.
God is sovereign. He is in control. He has promised us, as His children, that He will never leave us or forsake us, no matter where He takes us in our life. He is our Father who is watching over us. He gives us whatever strength we need to persevere in life.
He does this by making us surefooted, as we travel His path for us. He makes sure that we don't stumble in those scary times. He takes away the fear and gives us peace, as we look over the edge of the cliffs of life. We must keep climbing, trusting Him, and knowing that He will bring us through to the end of the trail He has for us.
