God's Word Gives Us Light

 The Word of God is very understandable. Yes, all of us can grasp the meaning of God's Word. He is not hiding it from us. He wants us to understand His Word, so we can know it and obey it. There is no excuse for a person not to understand the Word of God.

The psalmist made this point perfectly clear. (Psalm 119:130) He told us that the teaching of God's Word gives light, so even the simple can understand. Isn't that amazing? The God of the universe inspired men to write down His Word so that all people can understand its teaching.

When we hear a teacher expound the Word of God, we receive light from it. We can see things that were not understood before. We can figure out mysteries that have baffled people for a long time. It doesn't take a high IQ. It only takes receiving the Word of God into our mind.

Yes, we have teachers and preachers who study the Bible, because God has gifted them or called them to do that. However, that doesn't mean that only they can read it and understand it. Anyone who is a Christian, has the Holy Spirit in them to illuminate the Word of God as they read it, or hear it taught. That is the wonder of God's Word.
