All Have Turned Away

Many people actually believe that we as human beings, are basically good. They say that if a person just has his or her needs furnished, they will turn out to be good citizens. I am not sure how anyone can believe that when I see all of the bloodshed and immorality happening everywhere in the world. The Bible is clear that the opposite is really true.

David knew this truth in his day. (Psalm 53:2-3) God inspired him to tell all of us that God looks down from heaven on the entire human race; He looks to see if anyone is truly wise, if anyone seeks God. But no, all have turned away, all have become corrupt. No one does good, not a single one. I would say that is very clear, wouldn't you?

The problem that we have as people is that we are born with a sinful nature, passed down from Adam and Eve. Once we have a choice, we choose to do the wrong things, instead of doing right. This is true for every single person. We are all corrupted by sin, and we have no ability to change this by ourselves.

The great thing is that God has provided a way to be changed. It is by His grace, a free gift He gives us, if we will turn from our sins and put our trust in the Lord Jesus. Then, we are "born again." We become new creations, so that the old self is gone, and we are made new. We are not perfect, but we have the Holy Spirit to empower us and guide us to be like Jesus, our Lord. What a difference that makes!
