Purify Yourselves

When something is pure, it means that it is "unmixed" with other substances. There is nothing there to corrupt it, and it will have all of the positive qualities it is supposed to have. God wants us to be pure before Him. He wants us to be clean from sins, such as any kind of idolatry or immorality before we come into His presence. He won't allow Himself to be defiled by our sins.

That is why God told Joshua to address the Israelites before they went across the Jordan River into the Promised Land. (Joshua 3:5) He told them to purify themselves, for tomorrow the Lord was going to do great wonders among them. They would be blessed to see God work in a mighty way, and for that they needed to be pure.

Sin stains us. It comes between us and God. In fact, that is why we need salvation. We need the blood of Jesus to wash us clean of our sin debt. For that to happen we have to turn from our sins and trust Jesus alone as our Lord and Savior. Then we are adopted into God's family, and we have fellowship with Him. However, our fellowship is disrupted if we have sins we have not confessed, so we need to confess them and stay pure before the Lord to walk closely with Him.

This is especially true when God wants to do a great wonder for us. He is looking to see if we are wholly set on Him, so that our hearts are not mixed with worshiping idols and practicing immorality. This could be why we haven't had a great revival in our land for so long. We need to be purified through confession and to be ready for God to do His mighty wonders. I pray we will all do what we need to do to purify ourselves and see God work wonders.
