The Lord Will Provide

When we have faith in what God tells us to do, and we do it, He provides what we need to accomplish His will. When He shows us what to do, it may seem impossible or at least, very implausible. However, whatever God tells us to do is always possible with His help, His provision. This is a truth that we learn as we are faithful to obey God. The account of Abraham taking Isaac to Mount Moriah to sacrifice his son as God had commanded him, is a perfect example. (Genesis 22:14) Just as Abraham was about to plunge the knife into Isaac an angel told him to stop. At that moment God provided a ram for the sacrifice instead of his son. Therefore, Abraham named the place Yahweh-Yireh which means "the Lord will provide." The people used that name as a proverb; "On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided." I am sure we can all verify this, if we have been obedient to our Lord.

I wonder how many ways the Lord has provided for us in our lives? I know God has provided me with healing, direction, a place to live, a place to minister, and the money needed for my life and my family for all of these years. However, God's greatest provision for me and all of us came to us on that same mountain that Abraham named Yahweh-Yireh. God provided His Only-Begotten Son to be the sacrifice  for all of the sins of the world. We have all sinned, and we all need a Savior. When we realize our sins and turn to Jesus in repentance and faith, He provides our forgiveness and salvation for free. Then, He continues to provide what we need as we follow Him, so that we can all say "On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided." Wherever God leads, He provides. That is the great goodness of God for the world and for each of us as we trust Jesus as Lord and Savior.
