Show Faithful Love and Compassion
It seems to me that people are not as kind and considerate as they used to be when I was younger. People do not extend common courtesy to others by holding doors and welcoming them. This is the least we should do for others. As believers, we are commanded by God to do much more. We are representatives of Christ, so we must love others as He does. Yes. I know that is hard to do when people are mean to us and hurt us, but those things are never reasons to mistreat someone or ignore them. God told Zechariah to tell His people how to treat others. (Zechariah 7:9) They were to make fair decisions and show faithful love and compassion to others. That is a great way for us to think about it, too.
We must guard against not making fair decisions when it comes to how we act toward other people. It is never right to be prejudiced toward a group of people based on race, religion, or any other factors. We are to treat everyone with the same respect. This means we will show them faithful love. That is love that is consistent and lasting. It doesn't change from one situation to the next. We love them enough to meet their needs, putting their needs before our own, like Jesus did. Finally, we must always show compassion. That means we feel what they feel with them, and we bring comfort when they are hurting. Just think how much better our world would be if we all treated each other like this.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Zechariah 8-11.
