Never Doubt God's Justice

Sometimes we can get frustrated with God because we seem to see sinful people getting away with their unjust ways. We begin to judge the Lord's response, and even to think that God is not completely just all of the time. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The people of God in Nahum's day had been in exile for their rebellion. The Chaldeans had treated them terribly during that time. They were waiting for God to bring vengeance upon their enemies, but it wasn't happening the way they wanted. That was when Nahum stepped up to explain to them God's justice. (Nahum 1:3) The Lord is slow to anger, but He is great in power. He let them know that the Lord will never leave the guilty unpunished. They could count on that because of the great power of God, as they saw His path in the whirlwind and the clouds as the dust beneath His feet. I pray that this reality will give us great comfort today, as well.

Yes, there are many unjust things going on now, and there are many people who are set on doing evil all of the time. A lot of people get hurt. We get impatient, but God never gets impatient. That would be a sin. God is always slow to anger. The reason is that He is giving us time to repent and be forgiven of our sins, like He forgave the Ninevites when Jonah preached destruction on them. However, God's patience has a limit because He is holy. Therefore, He will get to the point where He uses His great power to bring the guilty to justice. He never leaves them unpunished, even if it happens once they leave this world. Eternal punishment is the worst type of punishment. We must remember this, and we must never doubt the holiness and justice of God. We must trust in Him fully, and we will have eternal bliss, no matter what we had to endure during these few years on earth.
