Here I Am. Send Me

I wonder how many times we volunteer to do a very difficult job? Yes, I know we volunteer to help with various short term projects and things that don't cost us much time or money. That is not what I am talking about. When was the last time we volunteered to take on a lifetime responsibility for no pay? That doesn't happen very often. Isaiah did it, though, and he did it well. (Isaiah 6:8) After King Uzziah died, Isaiah saw the Lord high and lifted up on His throne. He saw the Seraphim around the throne and heard them saying, "Holy, Holy, Holy" At that moment he was aware of his sins, and one of the angels purged his sins with a coal from the altar. After his cleansing, Isaiah heard the Lord asking, "Who will I send? Who will go for us?" Immediately, Isaiah responded by declaring, "Here I am. Send me." He volunteered to go to the people of Judah and Jerusalem with the Word of God. It was a hard job with few results, but Isaiah was a faithful volunteer to go for the Lord. Will we do the same?

Many of us, as Christians, will not volunteer to go for the Lord and to be witnesses for Him, because we have not seen the Lord in His glory. We have not spent time with Him and entered His presence with praise and thanksgiving. We have not been overcome by His majesty, because we have been too busy to approach Him, as He has called us to Himself. Also, we have been saved from our sins by trusting Jesus as our Lord and Savior, but we have allowed our daily sins to go unconfessed. (I John 1:9) Those sins have separated us from God so that we do not hear the voice of His Spirit clearly. If we would confess our sins in God's presence, and stand before Him spotless, we would hear Him calling us to volunteer to go for Him. Then, we would be ready to do whatever the Lord asks us, no matter the cost. We would do it for His glory and not for any personal reward. I pray we would all get to that point, as believers, because the world needs to hear from us today, calling them to the Lord Jesus and to the truth of God.
