God's Design for Mankind
The Bible is very clear about God's creation of humanity. God made man and woman. God had a very important reason for doing what He did. God made the man first. He gave Adam a job, and He let him name all of the animals. Then, Adam was surrounded by all kinds of animals to keep him company. However, God said that it was not good for the man to be alone. (Genesis 2:18,22) The animals were not enough for Adam. He needed a helper corresponding to him. Without this person, Adam was not complete. Therefore, God took a rib from Adam's side, and from the rib, He made a woman. Then, He brought the woman to the man, as his special helper. This teaches us much about ourselves and about the Lord's creation.
God never intended for man to be complete all by himself. He knew the needs of humanity. God wanted people to be fruitful and multiply. Adam could not do that by himself. No man can. In fact, no two men can do that. That is why God made a woman. God designed the woman to bear children with the aid of the man. This made families possible. The family was God's design for the basic structure of society. A strong society is built upon the nuclear family of one man and one woman bonded together in marriage, committed to each other in love, and having children, so they can nurture them and raise them in the admonition of the Lord. God does grant some people the gift of remaining single, and He takes care of them, but for most people marriage is a wonderful gift of God. The husband leads, and the wife completes him in how she thinks and loves. It is a wonderful union when two people follow God's pattern for them. I pray we will understand this truth and stop trying to adapt new designs which will never accomplish God's will for us or for society.
