Nothing God Says is on Hold
God's message has been communicated to people in various ways since the creation of the first humans. Some people have taken it very seriously, while many have been slow to listen and obey. Some of this neglect of doing God's Word is that we think it is not for the present, but for some time far in the future. We think it is not urgent for us to obey God right now. The thought that we have time to wait puts us to sleep, so we do other things, instead of doing God's will. That is a deadly mistake, just like it was for the people of Judah in Ezekiel's day. (Ezekiel 12:26-28) They were saying that his prophecies would happen in the far off future, but God told Ezekiel to assure them that His messages are never on hold. What He says will happen, will happen. We need to hear this loud and clear.
God's message to us is always relevant to us. Even if what He says will happen in the future it has implications for us today. Jesus is coming back. It could be today, or it could be 1,000 years from now. Therefore, we need to be ready to meet Jesus at any time. That causes us to live for Him every day, all day long. The same thing goes for the Great Commission. God commanded His disciples to make disciples who make disciples. That is not on hold. It is for us to do right now, not to put it off for later. We do not know when the people around us will leave this world, and they need to know Jesus before that happens. In other words, everything God says is urgent for us to hear and obey. We must never consider any of it to be on hold.
