The Perfect King
In this election year we are hearing all sorts of opinions of who should be elected president of the United States. This is not a political post in any way. I will not engage in politics in this blog or when I teach and preach. However, we all know that the leader of a country is vital to the welfare of the people. As believers, we are part of an eternal kingdom with a Perfect King. (Psalm 145:13) We can be assured that we will do well no matter who gets elected, because no one can vote our King out of office. Also, we know that God always does what He says, and He is gracious in everything He does. Wouldn't it be great to have an earthly ruler with that integrity and graciousness?
God is the King of the universe. He created all of it, and He reigns supreme over His creation. We are His subjects, whether we are believers or not. Everyone in this world has to answer to the Perfect King who rules His kingdom eternal. There will be no elections to see who will take His place. It doesn't matter how much a person dislikes God or disbelieves Him, God is still the king of His universal kingdom. Being a very benevolent dictator, God always does what He says He will do. There are no broken promises, and His Word, the Bible, is full of them. If He said it, it will happen. However, the best thing about our Perfect King is that He is gracious in everything He does. He loves us, and He always gives us more than we deserve. In fact, He sent His Own Son to die for us that we might be saved from our sins and become one of His adopted children. How do we do that? It happens by the grace of God as a free gift, when we turn from our ways, put our trust in Christ and His death for our sins, while surrendering to Him as Lord of our lives forever. See what I mean? We have the Perfect King. I pray He has become the King of your life, as well.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 146-148.
