Finding Our Way in Life
The book of Proverbs is all about how living by God's wisdom blesses our lives. Solomon, the wisest man who has ever lived, gave us all of the insights He learned form the Lord. These insights are about all areas of life, and they are very helpful. There are hundreds or thousands of proverbs that contain nuggets of God's wisdom. It is great to study the whole book. However, Solomon gave us a summary of what we need to have a good life path. (Proverbs 6:23) The first step is sound advice, because it is like a beacon, then, good teaching, which is like a light, and finally moral discipline is a life path. Let's break these three things down, so we can make sure and find the right way for our life.
Sound Advice is like a beacon, because a beacon is a focused beam of light. A lighthouse shines a beacon to lead ships in the right path. When we have a godly friend or counselor, and we receive their advice on a specific topic, we can find the exact answer for what we need to know or do. All of us need godly friends. Just know that a godly person can be seen by their life, not just by how they talk, so make sure they practice what they say. Good teaching is like a light in that it gives us general light for all kinds of things that God wants us to know. Then, they more we learn, and the more sound advice we get, we begin to see how we should live. That leads us to moral discipline. That means living out the sound advice and the good teaching on a daily basis. That is a great life path. When we do those three things, we will find our way in life, and it will be a way that is blessed by God.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Proverbs 7-9.
