God Revealed to Us

Christmas is a wonderful time of the year. It is great to be able to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We enjoy getting together with family and friends, too, as we have parties and exchange gifts. It is right to be merry about the coming of Christ. John really puts it in perspective in his first letter, as well as, in his gospel. (I John 1:1,2) John experienced Christmas in a way that was more full and complete than we will be able to experience it, but it is good for us to realize what happened to him and the other apostles.

John realized that Jesus was Eternal God. He was from the beginning, meaning He had no beginning, so He was present when everything else began. The 12 apostles lived with God in human flesh for 3 years. They heard Jesus speak; they saw Him with their eyes, and they touched him with their hands. They observed that He was fully human and fully God. They came to be convinced that Jesus was the Word of life. He had the power of life in Himself, so He could give eternal life to whomever He wished. The apostles had that life revealed to them, and they were quick to testify and to declare this truth to others. The Eternal God and His eternal life was with the Father, but He came down to be revealed to them and to us. That is the miracle of Christmas from an eye witness perspective recorded for all of us to consider.
