The Millennial Kingdom
Zechariah speaks of the results of the battle of Armageddon. Some of his description sounds like a description of people who die from the radiation of a nuclear attack. Whatever he describes, many people will die in this historic battle. Jesus will come and put an end to the battle before it gets started, as He returns to earth from Heaven. As believers, we will come behind Him to reign with Him for 1,000 years. He will set up His throne in Jerusalem. All of the people who remain on the earth will come to worship the Lord in Jerusalem once a year. If they do not worship Him, there is no rain on their land for that year. (Zechariah 14:16,17) This will be a very different time, but we can learn from it, so we are better disciples today.
Jesus is the Lord and King of all. He deserves our worship all of the time. We owe Him everything because of His substitutionary atonement for our sins. He wants all people to see His glory and bow in worship. However, some will refuse to worship Him from their hearts. If that is their choice, they will suffer consequences. These consequences are not retribution because they did not come to worship Him. They are encouragements to see the benefits of putting Jesus above all. Is Jesus your Lord, and do you worship Him as you should? If not, are you seeing any consequences of your failure to worship Him? If so, remember Jesus loves you, and He is always ready for you to return to Him, submit to Him as Lord in worship, and enjoy a close relationship with Him.
