The Sun Stood Still

The book of Joshua has many notable miracles, but none are any greater than the day the sun stood still in the sky for almost a full day. (Joshua 10:12,13) It boggles my mind to consider how the Lord caused this to happen when Joshua made this request. We know that the sun does not really move in the sky, but the earth rotates, making it appear that the sun is moving. So how did God make the sun stand still in the sky? I know He could have stopped the rotation of the earth for that long, but I am not sure exactly what He did. However, I believe that it did happen just as God's Word says, even if I do not know how it happened.

There are many things that happen in our lives, and often, we do not know the "why" behind them or the "how." God is not obliged to explain those things to us. He loves us, and He always does what is best for us. Because we know that, we should willingly trust Him in whatever He decides to do. After all, He is the Lord of all. He knows everything. We are finite beings with limited knowledge. We should not expect God to try to show us everything. I don't believe we could comprehend much of what He does with our finite minds, anyway. However, there are some people who are upset with God, because He doesn't show them why or how He has acted in their lives. That is Satan's way of turning us against God, like He deceived Eve in the garden of Eden. Please, don't fall for that line of reasoning, but simply trust in the goodness and wisdom of God.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Joshua 11-14.
