I am Your Portion and Inheritance

As I mentioned a couple of days ago, the tribe of Levi was chosen by God to be His servants in the tabernacle and temple. The family of Aaron, who was a member of the tribe of Levi, was selected to be the priests, and the rest of the families were to assist them in everything that was done. Because of this, God did not give them a portion of land, but He proclaimed that He was their portion, and their inheritance. (Numbers 16:20) That was an Old Testament reality that has an even greater meaning for believers today.

Now, every believer is a priest in God's eyes. We are a holy priesthood. We are His servants to bring people to the Lord. We are all given direct access to the throne of God, because we know Christ, and we have His Spirit in us. We belong to the Lord. He adopted us, and we are His children. He does not guarantee any of us houses, lands, or riches. He is our Portion. No matter what earthly possessions we have, we are rich because we have Him. He is far better than anything material. He meets our needs physically, spiritually, and emotionally in a way that no person or thing can do. Also, He is our Inheritance. We get to bask in the treasures of heaven. What more could we ever need? That is an inheritance where we have direct access to Him for eternity, and we are in the place Jesus specially designed for us. I pray that all of us will trust Christ as Lord and Savior, and then, rest in Him as our Portion and Inheritance.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Numbers 19-21.
