God's Formula for Victory

When the Israelites arrived at the Jordan River to prepare to cross over and take the land of Canaan, Moses allowed them to send in spies first. The ten spies came back afraid of the people and gave a bad report, so the people rebelled and would not obey God. This made God very angry. Moses tried to calm the people and give them assurance of victory. (Deuteronomy 1:29,30) However, they would not listen to what Moses told them. This led to 40 years of wandering in the wilderness until that entire generation died. We need to learn what Moses told them, so we do not lead defeated lives, but instead enjoy victory in life.

As believers, we should never be terrified or afraid. We belong to the Lord, and He is a Good Father, who watches over all His children well. As long as we obey Him and do His will, we can be assured that His will is the best for us, whatever may happen. Therefore, we should not be afraid of other people, so that we fail to do what God has for us to do. Also, we should know that God goes before us wherever we go. He is there to meet any threat and to prepare us for any situation. Then, He fights for us, when we have to engage in any type of struggle. We never have to face it on our own. Finally, we can look back and see what He has done for us in the past. This gives us confidence in His goodness and power. If we will be aware of these things and follow His commands, it is a formula for certain victory in life.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Deuteronomy 3-5.
