The Spirit Poured Out on All Flesh
We are so blessed to live in this time in the history of the world. Now, we can have the Holy Spirit living in us, so we can relate to God directly, and we can relay the Word of God to others in the power of His Spirit. This great blessing is available for every person in the world, regardless of their social status or position in life. God showed Joel this truth long before it happened. (Joel 2:28,29) Now, we get to benefit from the outpouring of the Spirit.
God poured out the Spirit on the Day of Pentecost, 50 days after the resurrection of Jesus. He knew that every believer would need to guidance and empowerment of the Spirit to live the Christian life and to complete God's purpose for us. Therefore, He poured out the Spirit on men and women, slave or free, who received Christ as Lord of their lives. Then, they began to prophesy for the Lord by speaking forth His Word. Also, He gave them dreams and visions to direct them and to share with others. This is still true today, and it will be true until the Rapture of the church. Then, since our bodies are the temple of the Spirit, the world will revert back to a time like the Old Covenant where some people have the Spirit on them to help them fulfill their mission, but He will not be in every believer as is the reality now.
