Raining Righteousness on Us
God wants to shower us in His righteousness. It is only then that we can truly experience the righteous Christian life. We can't do it in our own power. However, there are a couple of things that God showed Hosea for us to do, so that we can have righteousness rained down on us. (Hosea 10:12) These things should be priorities in our lives, so we can grow to be more like Jesus every day.
The first thing we can do to experience God's rain of righteousness on us is to sow righteousness into our lives ourselves. We can't do everything, but we can do some things. When we show the Lord that we are hungering and thirsting for His righteousness, we will be filled with it. We can read His Word, and simply do our best to do what it says. If we sow righteousness in that way, we will reap a harvest of His steadfast love for us. He loves for His children to strive for righteous living, so He gives us a great dose of His faithful love. Then, we can break up any hard ground in our hearts. We can inspect our hearts for any area in which we resist the Lord or fail to keep His commands. If we find those spots, we remove them and submit to God. This is our ongoing process to seek the Lord and His righteousness. When we do those things, God opens the windows of heaven to rain righteousness on us. We see what a truly righteous life is like and what can be done when we do His will in His power and with His blessing.
