Human Sheep
God told the people of Israel that they were His sheep. Of course, they were not literal sheep, but they were human sheep living in His pasture. Therefore, since they belonged to Him, He was their God. (Ezekiel 34:31) He was declaring to them their need and His willingness to watch over them and care for them. Isn't that a great message for us, as believers, today? We need to take this truth and apply it in our own lives.
Even though we are saved, we are human sheep before God. We cannot live without Him. We are too weak, and we lack the ability to care for ourselves. Sheep must always have a shepherd to care for them and to guide them to whatever they need. We must confess that same need to the Lord and be determined to depend on Him for all things. (John 15:5) Then, we need to relax, knowing we live in God's pasture. That means we will have everything we need for life, as long as He directs us. His pasture lacks nothing needed for His sheep. Finally, since He is God, and He is our God, there is nothing He can't do to make us complete in Him. In fact, that is what He wants for us. He wants to feed us well, cause us to rest in Him, and to bask in His love for us. All He wants is for us to love Him, worship Him, and follow Him, while giving Him all of the glory. I hope we all can learn this lesson and have life more abundantly.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 36-39.
