A Lowly Kingdom
When God sent the army of Babylon to destroy Jerusalem and take the people of Judah into exile, He did the same thing to Egypt. Egypt had been the most powerful kingdom in the world. Pharaoh was the most wealthy of kings, and they ruled over other countries. However, after forty years of exile, God brought the people back to Egypt. When they returned, the country was never great and powerful again. It has been a lowly kingdom ever since that time. (Ezekiel 29:13,14) This shows all of us the sovereignty of God over the nations of this world.
Today, the United States is the most powerful nation in the world. That is not by our power, but by the blessing of God. There are other powerful countries around this globe, and they would love to bring us down, as Babylon humbled Egypt. If God does not help us remain strong, we could become a lowly nation, too. That is why we need a great awakening for our people to turn back to God and His ways. He is the King of the Universe, so He can exalt us or bring us down. We should all pray fervently for this awakening, or we could find ourselves in a much different position in the future.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 32-35.
