We are Dust
There is not much that is more insignificant than dust. It is something we sweep up and throw away. It is pretty useless most of the time, but when God made man, He used the common dust of the earth. Our bodies consist of dust fashioned by God into our physical frame. That is simply amazing! However, God has compassion on us, as a father has compassion for his children, if we fear Him. His compassion is very tender and caring, because He knows we are dust. (Psalm 103:13,14) It is a good thing our Heavenly Father knows how to take care of his creation made of dust.
When John 15:5 tells us that "without Me (Jesus) you can do nothing." It should communicate our frailty and our need for God's intervention in our lives. The problem is that so many people are proud dust. They think they are really powerful and smart, so they can do whatever they decide to do. This may be OK for a while, but what happens when the dust starts to fall apart, and they need some of God's compassion? It is not there, because they have lived their lives without fearing God, and most are still too proud to admit they have sinned, so they can turn from their way and trust Christ. If they would do that, they would find the compassion of God to be just what they need. I pray that all of us know we are dust and that God's compassion is even greater for us, because He knows that well.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 104-106.
