Having a Mind to Work
Many people do not like work. It is a drudgery to them. They only work when they have to, and then, they do as little as possible. That is not God's view of work. God gave Adam work to do in the Garden of Eden, even before sin came into the world. We are to be fulfilled by our work, as we do what God has for us to do. However, we have to be like the people of Israel building the wall of Jerusalem under Nehemiah. They accomplished much work on the wall in a short time, because the people had a mind to work. (Nehemiah 4:6) That is exactly what we need today.
We must change our mindset about work. We must see it as something good and productive. This is especially true when we are doing the work of the Lord. However, we are supposed to do all we do, as unto the Lord. So if we do our work, as if we were working for the Lord, it would change how we work, and it would make us more productive. Also, it would change our attitude toward work. We would actually have God's attitude, and we would have His blessings upon what we do, also.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Nehemiah 5-7.
