Working with God's Help

When God is helping us in our tasks that we are doing at His command, anything is possible. Sometimes, God chooses to do miraculous things, because we are doing His will by trusting Him and working diligently. That is what happened in Jerusalem when the people came together to rebuild the walls under the leadership of Nehemiah. (Nehemiah 6:15,16) A group of people who were not professional builders completed the entire wall and all of the gates in 52 days. What a miracle.

This event in history shows us that no opposition can stop us when God is helping us. The surrounding people did everything they could to hinder the work, but to no avail. It shows us that we can overcome any obstacles when God is helping us. The people had to remove all of the rubble and trash as they built. Also, they had to guard against an enemy attack, so they worked with a spear in one hand. Still they completed the work in less than 2 months. Finally, this account shows us that anyone can receive God's help to do His will, even if we are not gifted in what needs to be done. In other words our abilities or lack of ability are never excuses for not doing God's will. He is able, and are we, when He is helping us.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Nehemiah 8-10.
