David to the Rescue

As David and his men were fleeing from Saul and living in the wilderness, They heard that the Philistines were attacking the city of Keilah to plunder all they had. David inquired of God to see if the Lord wanted them to go to the aid of those people. God said, "Yes." His men were not so sure, so David asked God again, and he got the same answer. Therefore, they went and rescued the town from the Philistines. (I Samuel 23:2) David had enough trouble of his own, but he still cared enough about others to go to their rescue. What would we have done?

Today, there are a lot of people, even believers, who want to keep to themselves. We are busy. We have all types of stress. We have a bunch of troubles, because of this crazy world in which we live. Therefore, we are unmoved by the plight of other people. Even when we see their distress, we turn our head away. Is that God's will? I don't think so. I know we can't help everyone all of the time, but we can ask God to show us what to do. If He tells us to go to the rescue, we must go. It is an honor and a privilege to be used by God to rescue others from the attacks of others and even from the forces of the devil by spiritual warfare on their behalf. Please, do not be immune to the needs to others. Seek to be the rescuer that God wants to use in their lives. It will be a huge blessing for them and for you.

Tomorrow, I intend to read I Samuel 24-26.
