Established to the Lord
Often we see signs telling us that something was "established." Many times the sign tells us the year that it was started. It is meant to be a reminder of what has happened and to show that it is enduring to the present time. Well, we can be "established as a people" to the Lord, if we keep His commandments and walk in His ways. (Deuteronomy 28:9) Keeping God's Word and walking in His ways gives us a firm foundation for life, and God establishes us as His people. Let's consider this truth.
Deuteronomy 28 is a long chapter that contains the blessings and the curses God laid out for His people. He was trying to get us to see the results of being obedient to His commands and following His Word. If we break His Word, we are still His people, but He brings problems and even great calamities into our lives, as well as, allowing the breakdown of our culture. That is what we see happening around us today. However, if we are faithful to His Word, God keeps us strong in Him. He sets us apart from those who do not obey Him, and He blesses us with many blessings. This is what we all ought to be committed to doing and to show others the benefits of living God's way. We need to let others know they can be established to the Lord, as well, if they will begin to follow Him fully.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Deuteronomy 29-31..
