The Lord Heard the Voice of Elijah

When we pray from a pure heart believing God can and will answer our prayer, miraculous things are possible, because of the grace, mercy, and love of our God. Elijah knew that, so he prayed that God would raise the widow's son from the dead, and He did. (I Kings 17:20,22) God does not always work a miracle, but He always does the right thing out of His great love for us.

When you pray, does God hear you? I have written about this a couple of times lately, but it is such an important issue, I want to add to what we have already learned from God's Word. Elijah went to God because He truly desired an answer with a pure heart with pure motives. He wondered why God would punish the widow to whom he was sent by allowing her son to die after miraculously saving all of them from starvation in the great drought and famine. There was no selfishness in his heart only compassion and belief that God would do the right thing. Then, he never doubted that God could raise him up from the dead. He simply cried out to God. I believe God raised the boy to show His power and to confirm that. Elijah was a prophet.  He will do the same for us, if what we ask is according to His will. Then, others will know we serve the One True God, our Lord Jesus Christ.

Tomorrow, I intend to read I Kings 18-20.
