Speaking Forth God's Word

Micaiah was a true prophet of God. Prophets speak forth God's Word, as they hear it from Him. He was hated by King Ahab because he always spoke what the Lord said to him,(I Kings 22:14) God was against Ahab and his wife, Jezebel, since they turned Israel to Baal worship. Therefore, Micaiah never spoke good things about Ahab. This is a common happening today, too. People do not like prophets and preachers who only speak what God leads them to speak.

Most people do just what they want to do. They like to hear people who agree with them, and not those who disagree. This is true even when it comes to Christians and the Bible. If we have an interpretation of the Bible, often we do not like to hear someone with a different view. The problem is that there is only one true interpretation of God's Word. If a prophet or preacher is led by the Spirit to know the truth of God, and he shares it clearly, we should listen to him, even if we do not like what he says.

The truth is the truth, so if we have come to know the truth of God, no one can refute that truth. We should welcome others to try to refute it, because if they can't, it strengthens the truth. If they can point out errors in what we believe, that is a good thing, because we should want to adjust our beliefs, so we believe the whole truth.

Tomorrow, I intend to read II Kings 2-5.
