Rise up, O Lord

The sons of Israel were a multitude of slaves traveling through the wilderness once they left Mt. Sinai. They had never been that way before, because it was the long way back to Canaan. However, they went with the assurance that the Lord went before them to defeat the enemies and scatter those who hated Him. (Numbers 10:35) The same is true for us, as believers, today.

Those who  know the Lord can live each day with the knowledge that God is going before them, if they are following the Lord and His will for their lives. No enemies can come against them, except the ones God allows to come, and then, He gives them the direction and power to defeat them, We have no need to fear those who hate us for trusting in the Lord, because the Lord will scatter them, as we trust Him. We do not go anywhere without Him, unless we decide to step out of His will.

I love what Moses said when the ark of the covenant set out from the camp, being carried by the Levites. "Rise up, O Lord, and let your enemies be scattered and those who hate you flee before You." What if we started every day by saying, "Thank You Lord for being with me and going before Me to scatter the enemies and make those who hate you flee," That would be a great reminder of His constant presence.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Numbers 11-13.
