The Visible Presence of God

When the work on the tabernacle was completed and it was all set up, God came to reside in the Holy of Holies. The glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. It was like a cloud over the tent all of the time, but at night, there was fire in the cloud. (Exodus 40:34,38) This was the visible presence of God for the people of God. For over 40 years it was in the center of the camp when they were stopped or in the center of the caravan as they were moving. God was so good to remind them that He was always with them.

Today, we can't see God with us all of the time. However, we have something even better. The Holy Spirit lives inside of all believers. He is the constant presence of God in our lives. He bears witness of His presence by showing is in our hearts, and He displays His power in and through us as we trust Him. The more yielded we are to the Lord, the more we can experience the presence of God being in us and with us. God was wonderful to show Himself to Israel. However, just think of how it is today. All believers have God with us 100% all of the time. This is a far greater blessing than the cloud over the tabernacle. We should be very grateful to the Lord, and we should follow the Spirit all the time.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Leviticus 3-5.
