Our Compassionate God
Moses wanted to see God, and even though he could not stand to view the full glory of God, he was permitted to get a glimpse of God as He passed by where he was in the cleft of the rock. As God passed by, He proclaimed His character to Moses. (Exodus 34:6) Sometimes we tend to forget the greatness of our compassionate God.
God's compassion for us allows Him to "feel with us." He knows just what we are going through, and He truly cares for us. He is gracious toward us, in that, He always gives us more than we deserve. Our God is slow to anger, so that He does not lash out against us in wrath. In fact, He is abounding in lovingkindness, which is His covenant faithfulness to always keep His promises to us. Finally, He is abounding in truth, too. He is the Creator of truth, and He is truth. There is no god like Our God!
Next time you doubt the compassion and grace of God, look over this verse and see how wonderful He is toward us because of His perfect love.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Exodus 35-38
