He Shall Carry Their Names Over His Heart

Everything in the Tabernacle of Israel had meaning. The way the tent was made, the furnishings and implements, and the clothes of Aaron, the priest, and his sons, who served with him. Moses was given the exact way to make everything down to the smallest detail. Then, when he was told how to make the breastplate for Aaron, we are told something very special. The names of each of the sons of Israel were engraved on gem stones and placed on the breastplate, so that they we over Aaron's heart every time he entered the holy place to do the sacrifices. This was a continual memorial before the Lord of the covenant relationship He had with His people. (Exodus 28:29) We can learn a big lesson from this, too.

God loves His people, and He desires for us to love Him back. Once we trust the Lord Jesus, we are accepted in the Beloved; we are a part of the family of God. We enter a covenant relationship which is eternal. God is our God, and we are His people. We must never forget His love for us, and we must strive to love Him with a love that is worthy of His great glory and the forgiveness He bestowed on us. When we have that type of love for Him and others, the people we meet will be able to see that we belong to Him.

Let's do whatever it takes to never take for granted God's great love for us and to express our gratitude for it by loving Him and all those for whom Christ died.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Exodus 29-31.
