God's Testimony About King David
Our testimony is the story we tell about how God saved us and how He has blessed us in so many ways. I pray that we all have a testimony that Jesus is our Lord, and I hope we share it with others on a regular basis. However, I also want us to think about God's testimony about our life. What would be God's testimony about us? Paul gave God's testimony about King David, and I believe it is a challenge for all of us. (Acts 13:22)
David was not perfect. In fact, he had several serious sins that caused him and his family much heartache. However, he also had some great strengths for which God commended him. David was "a man after God's own heart." David had a soft heart, so that even after he had sinned, he was willing to humble himself and confess his sins. His heart was continually on the Lord, and he was committed to all the will of God, not just part of it. What a testimony from the very mouth of God!
Could God say that you are a man or woman after His own heart? Could He say that you will do all of His will? We don't have to be perfect for God to be able to say this about us, but we do have to have a heart for Him and a willingness to do His will completely. I pray that we will all make that our aim each day.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Acts 16-19.
