Preaching the Word
Most people think only preachers preach the word of God. That is not true in the Bible. The book of Acts tells us that after the persecution arose in Jerusalem, in which Stephen was martyred and others were imprisoned for their faith, the believers went everywhere preaching the word. It also says that the apostles stayed in Jerusalem, so it was not preachers preaching the gospel, but regular, everyday believers. Philip was one of the men chosen to feed the widows, and he preached in Samaria. The people believed and many were baptized. (Acts 8:4,12) It was a great awakening among the pagan people, all because someone shared the word of God. The same thing could happen today,
What if all believers preached the word to those around them every day, instead of just preachers preaching the word in worship services? I believe we could see the results that Philip saw in which many men and women were baptized after trusting Jesus as Lord. That is why we all need to be prepared to speak to others about the Kingdom of God and the name of Jesus. There is salvation in no other name, except the name of Jesus. We all need to know how to be citizens of the Kingdom of God which is His eternal kingdom. Who will tell the people who will never go to a church for a service? It has to be that all believers become preachers of the word, so we can see many men and women baptized for God's glory.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Acts 9-11.
