Abiding in God's Word
When we know Christ as Lord and Savior, we abide in His Word, the Word of God. Jesus made this plain to a group of Jews who said they believed Him. He also, shared what will happen when we abide in His Word. (John 8:31,32) I pray that we all will experience what Jesus said here.
If we abide in His Word, we are His disciples. It is part of the spiritual transformation that takes place when we become a child of God. We love His Word, and we want to learn more and more each day. Then, as we continue in His Word, we will know the truth, because He is the Truth, and His Word is truth. (John 17:17) Once we know the truth we are set free from error and false thinking, so we can be truly free from the things that can bind us in life. Sin is what binds us, so knowing the Lord Jesus frees us from the penalty of our sins. However, it takes abiding in Him and in His Word to set us free from the practice of sin in our lives.
This is another reason that having a daily unhurried time is so important. If you are in bondage to any sin, abide in His Word, so you can be free indeed.
Tomorrow, I intend to read John 10-13.
