God Given Words and Wisdom to Answer Adversaries

Many believers are ruled by fear, instead of having confidence in the Lord to empower them. That is why they keep silent, and they do not answer their adversaries or share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Jesus warned us all not to spend time thinking about these situations, but to trust Him to give us the words and the wisdom to answer whoever we need to speak with. (Luke 21:14,15) His instructions are clear.

The last week of Jesus' life He was busy teaching the people near the temple in Jerusalem. As He taught, Jewish leaders sought to catch Him in saying something false or something they could use against Him to defeat Him. They were unable to do that. Then, Jesus assured His disciples that He would give us the same ability at the right time, so we do not need to spend time meditating on what to say and how to say it. He will give us what to say, if we trust Him in the moment. Of course, we must stay close to Him daily, so we can hear from Him in every situation.

Please, remember II Timothy 1:7. Paul reminded Timothy that God has not given us the spirit of fear, but the spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. We must not be ruled by fear of what we will say or do. We must live in faith and watch the Lord do His work in and through us.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Luke 22-24.
