Words Matter
Life is a test from beginning to end. In this test it is not just what we do that matters, even though that is very important, but it is what we say, too. When we stand before the Lord on the Day of Judgment, we will take our final exam over everything in our lives. On that day we will give an account of every word we have spoken, even the idle words, which we said flippantly. (Matthew 12:36,37) Let's see why our words matter so much.
Jesus made it very clear that we will be justified or condemned by our words. Words matter because they reveal the condition of our heart. Yes, we can say things that we do not mean, but God sees the heart, so He knows why we are saying what we say. Romans 10:9,10 are very significant for us all. We are saved by believing in the Lord Jesus with out heart, and by confessing Him before others with our mouth. In fact, if we do not confess Him before others, He will not confess us before the Father that we are His.
However, that is just part of the story of our life. God will judge all the rest, too. Did we bear good fruit or bad fruit? Did we speak up for the Lord Jesus and tell others how much He means to us? Our words will be a large part of the test. If you were graded today what grade would you receive? If you have not confessed Christ as Lord, you will fail completely. If you have failed to speak forth for Him and share the gospel, your grade will be very low, and it will be a time of great shame when we hear that from our Lord. However, you can change the outcome by what you do today and for the rest of your life. Please, remember words matter, and there will be a test at the end.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Matthew 13-16.
