Fulfilling God's Promise
The day that Jesus ascended back to heaven from the Mount of Olives as the disciples watched, an angel told them that He would come back just as they had seen Him go. He left in His glorified body, and He will return to reign as King of the earth. The prophet Zechariah received a revelation of this from God and delivered it hundreds of years before Jesus came the first time. (Zechariah 14:4,9) This should show us that the Bible is God's Word, and He has a plan for this world that is being carried out.
It amazes me that God is so specific about certain things in the Bible. He always keeps His promises completely. In this case Jesus comes right down to the Mount of Olives, ending the battle of Armegeddon, and walking into Jerusalem from the east to set up His reign. Everyone will know He has arrived, partly because the mountain will split in two, moving north and south to make a great valley. What a dramatic return and complete fulfillment of His promise.
God will keep His promises for you, too. Read His Word. Find the promises that apply to you or to all of us, and thank God for them. Then, believe them and live in the assurance that God will keep those promises. What a glorious way to live and have joy in the Lord, as well as abundant hope.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Malachi 1-3.
