A Great Calm

If we know that Jesus was and is God with us, and if we have been born again, so that we walk with Him each day, how should our lives be different from others? They should be different in how we act, but they should also be very different in our attitudes and how we feel inside. Instead of being stressed by all of the trials of life, God's children should experience great calm in their lives. Jesus showed us this when He calmed the storm on the Sea of Galilee for His disciples to see His power over nature. (Matthew 8:26) They were amazed that He could command the winds and the waves, but  now we should know that Jesus has all authority and power. What is the problem? It is the same problem His disciples had.

When the disciples woke Jesus in panic, because they thought the boat was sinking, He questioned their fear and called them "you of little faith." The problem was not that Jesus had a lack of authority and power. The problem was that His disciples had a lack of trust in His authority and power. Jesus caused a great calm to show them the results of their lack of faith. All they had to do was to go to Jesus with their problem, and He could have solved it. However, they became stressed in trying to save themselves, until at last they complained to Jesus. I am afraid Christians still do that today, because of the same lack of faith.

We must determine to live each minute of every day by faith in Jesus. (Hebrews 11:6, Galatians 2:20)  We must trust Him for everything, and do whatever He tells us to do, because of our faith. Then, we can experience great calm in our lives on a daily basis. Remember, Jesus has everything under control, so we need to willingly trust Him fully, so we can walk with Him in great calm.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Matthew 9-12.
