Moving Away from God or Returning To Him?

We have a decision to make. Will we move away from the Lord, or will we return to Him? I say this about the USA and about many individuals in our country who know about the Lord, but they have departed from His ordinances. This was the situation in Malachi's day, too. (Malachi 3:7) He urged them to return to the Lord, and that is my admonition to us today.

As we consider the state of America and all that we are having to experience in this election year, we are seeing the effects of 50 years of consistently moving away from God. It started when I was young. It happened gradually for a while, but then, it became the popular thing to do. Now, the fastest  growing group of people in the USA are the "none's." When asked what religion they are or what beliefs they hold to, they answer "none." More and more people do not believe in any absolute truth or any god at all, much less the One True God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

If we really want to see America prosper and the lives of our people be meaningful and fulfilling, it will only happen when we see the light and turn to Christ. The people of Malachi's day said half-heartedly that they did not know how to return to the Lord. It is really very simple. Take the Bible as His inerrant Word of truth, and trust Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, turning away from all that is against God's Word. Anyone can do it, and you can start right now.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Malachi 4 and Matthew 1-2.
