Renewing Our Strength
Many people are tired all of the time. They lack the energy and motivation to get the things done that they need to do. Sometimes, this is a physical problem caused by being in bad health or being out of shape. However, in many cases this happens to otherwise healthy people, who are not out of shape. Why does this happen? God's Word makes it very clear. (Isaiah 40:31) Let's consider what Isaiah recorded for us.
Stress robs us of energy. Stress leads to discouragement and depression. Unfortunately, we can't escape stress. It is a part of life in this world. Therefore, we have to know how to bring peace in the midst of stress. We have to go to the Source of our strength. God can and will give us peace and renew our strength, if we will make it a practice to wait on Him. We wait on the Lord, when we spend time with Him in prayer and in His Word. We wait for Him to fill us with His Spirit, to answer our prayers, and to show us His truth. Then, when we engage the Lord expectantly, He loves to respond by blessing us with His strength. It is amazing. Then, we can soar like eagles in life without getting down and depressed. We can run and not be weary. We can walk and not faint.
I want to urge all of us to make this a regular practice. Notice why this is necessary. Isaiah says those who wait on the Lord, renew their strength. Therefore, we must regularly wait on the Lord, if we want our strength to be renewed regularly. I strongly believe it is a daily need, so we should wait on the Lord every day.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 41-43.
