An Explanation for Our Predicament
We have had a very unusual year in America. Many people wonder how we could have ended up with the presidential candidates, which have been chosen by the people. I am not going to get into the politics, but I would like to venture an explanation. Our thoughts are not God's thoughts, and our ways are not God's ways. (Isaiah 55:8,9) Therefore, when people make choices based on their thoughts and their ways, they come up with some very unusual results. However, God had a way for us to avoid this result, if we would have listened.
God's thoughts are perfect, and His ways are so much higher than our ways that there is no comparison. That is why He gave us His Word, the Bible. That is why the Holy Spirit leads us into all truth and convicts us of sin, righteousness and judgment.(John 16:8-13) The problem is that most people do not consult the Lord before they make choices. They do not search His Word for how to act and to think. They take their own way, until they get into a huge mess, and then, they cry out to God.
I have no idea what will happen in America now. As the old saying goes, "We have made our bed, and now we will have to sleep in it." I am sure about one thing, though. We should stop going by our thoughts and our ways, and we must strive diligently to know God's thoughts and ways, so we can adjust our thoughts and ways to be in line with His.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 57-60.
