God's Protection
The Bible is full of accounts about how God protected individuals, as well as Israel and other countries. It comes out of His nature, since He is love. He desires to gather His people around Him and give them His protection. The psalmist was inspired to record for us this longing of God's heart. (Psalm 81:13,14) This should be an encouragement to us to get right with the Lord today.
God's heart is for His people to listen to Him. We must be still before Him as we read His Word and pray. Then, we can hear Him and obey. The more we listen, the easier it will be to hear Him all of the time. God also desires that we walk in His ways. That is simply to follow what His Word says and to act in line with His character. If we will do this, He will soon subdue our enemies and turn His hand against our adversaries. However, the opposite is also true. If we fail to listen and walk in His ways, He will remove His protection and He will not fight against our enemies.
I know this is a promise to Israel. However, it shows God's heart and His desire for His people. Therefore, I know this is true for believers today and for the church. I believe it could apply to America, too, since the Bible has the accounts of other countries being protected by God. I pray that God's people will turn to the Lord, and I pray for an awakening in America to see our country turn to Him, too.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 83-85.
