A Result of Restored Joy
When we are out of fellowship with God because of unconfessed sins, we do not have joy, and we have no motivation to do God's will with the right heart. David knew that reality after sinning with Bathsheba and having her husband, Uriah, killed. However, he knew if he could have his joy back, then, he would begin sharing the truth with transgressors and seeing sinners converted to God. (Psalm 51:12,13) The same is true for every believer.
Confession and repentance from specific sins in our lives brings forgiveness and the restoration of the joy of our salvation. That joy is invigorating! It is contagious. This is especially true when the Holy Spirit of God continues to lift us up, so that we walk in His power. When we are fully restored and empowered, we will share the truth, and we will have credibility, since we know first hand how God forgives and restores. When we share, we will have power, because of our testimony and the truths we share, so that sinners will experience the same changes in their lives by turning from their sins and trusting the Lord. That is why we need to make sure that we confess our sins daily, and we have the joy of the Lord filling our hearts all day to motivate us to share with others what God has done for us.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 52-55.
