When God Sees the Blood
The Passover has always been amazing to me. God planned it, and He executed it to release the Israelites from bondage in Egypt. However, it went far beyond that. It was His way of pointing Israel and all of us to see the importance of the blood protecting us. (Exodus 12:13) It was the perfect way to prepare the world to see that Jesus was the Lamb of God, whose blood is the only thing that could save us from the plaque of sin.
God's people were in Egypt for 430 years. Those years ended in a period of extreme bondage. God set them free by executing the 10 plaques on Egypt to show that He was Lord of all, not Pharaoh or any other god. The final plague was the death of every firstborn person and animal in Egypt. That plague caused Pharaoh to expel them from Egypt.
Every Israelite family killed a lamb for that night and put the blood of the lamb on the top of the door and the two posts. When God saw that blood, He passed over that house so no one would die. Jesus is our Lamb. His blood came from His head, His hands, and His feet, as He was nailed to the cross, just like the blood on the door. Now, if we trust Him as Lord, the blood is applied to our lives, so that when God sees the blood, we will not die but have everlasting life.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Exodus 14-16.
