Hearts Far From God

God looks at the heart. Yes, our words are important, but if they do not match what is in our hearts, God sees our hypocrisy. If we try to worship God, but we are just trusting the doctrines of men, instead of God's truth, then our worship is in vain. (Matthew 15:8,9) I believe this calls for some introspection.

We all need to make sure that we mean what we say, and we say what we mean. Remember, what we speak comes from our heart. Therefore, if our words are not righteous and edifying, then our hearts are not right with God. If we speak one way at church and another way the rest of the time, we have a heart problem. God sees what we do much more than what we say. It all starts with a heart that is right with Him.

We might enjoy our worship, but is it pleasing to God? God sees our hearts, so He knows what we believe. He knows if we are just following the teaching of men or if we are following His Word. God can't accept our worship if we are not following His commands. Please, remember that if we love God, we will keep His commands. Then, when we worship Him, it will be from a heart of love and obedience, not ritual or habit.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Matthew 16-19.
