Renew Our Days as of Old
Have you lost the joy of your heart? Has your dancing turned into mourning? That is what happened to God's people in Jeremiah's day. (Lamentations 5:15,21) He told them just what to do, and we need to hear what the Lord told them, so we can do it today.
The only way for the joy to return and for our dance to be one of celebration is for us to turn back to the Lord. In fact, we need to pray for the Lord to turn us back to Him. When we give in to the Lord, and turn away from our sins, so that we desire the Lord to lead us once again, then, we will be restored. We will once again know the joy of our salvation. Our days will be renewed as they were of old. The Lord is the only one who can restore the joy and renew our days.
Life is not meant to be like a roller coaster ride with all kinds of ups and downs. Oh yeah, we will have good times and hard times. However, our joy comes from the Lord and our relationship with Him. When our walk with the Lord is right, we can have joy, no matter what is happening to us or around us. Joy is an abiding satisfaction and hope, because we know the Lord has us, and He is in control of all of our life. If you have had that kind of joy, but it is gone now, please, sincerely pray this prayer of verse 21. Yield your heart to Him again, and watch what happens. If you have never known that type of joy, you can still turn to the Lord and ask Him to restore you to His design and to make your days new. Believe me; He is always faithful when we turn to Him in faith.
