One Main Problem
People want to make all of their own choices and direct their lives as they see fit. However, this causes more problems than it solves. Jeremiah told us why this happens. (Jeremiah 10:23) We need to consider this problem, so we can solve it for ourselves and help others, too.
Even though we value freedom, and we want to be independent of others in our decisions, that doesn't work. It is not in us to be able to direct our lives correctly. We need help from Someone with much more wisdom and understanding than we have. Of course, God knows all and He sees everything, so He can direct us perfectly, if we will submit to Him. Because of pride, most people have difficulty doing that. However, it is always best.
Atheists, and secular thinkers claim they know best, and if we will just pass their laws and follow their ways, we will have peace in the earth and life will get better and better. I have been hearing this most of my life. However, if I look back over the last 100 years in America, things are much worse now than they were then. The people who follow the advice and wisdom of this world are not happy. They keep getting more troubled than ever. This shows me that what Jeremiah told us is right.
When a person follows God's ways and His commands, life is much better. We still have problems, but we have the peace, joy, and love of the Lord who directs us through the trials, so that we depend on Him more and more. Then, we rejoice in having a daily relationship with the Living God through knowing Jesus as Lord of our lives. Also, we know that our way is leading to an eternity in heaven, which gives us hope each and every day. God's way is the best.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 13-15.
