They Did Not Know How To Blush
The Lord told the prophet Jeremiah why He decided it was time to bring destruction on His people. It was when they were not ashamed of committing abominations, and they did not know how to blush. (Jeremiah 6:15) I believe we, as a nation, have come to this point. However, the scarier thing is that even many Christians have reached this point.
The Bible gives us many examples of things that are an abomination to the Lord. Most of them have to do with following idols of any kind or totally rejecting the Word of God to the point of doing the opposite of what it says. We see these types of behavior all of the time. People murder in cold blood, and they do not seem to be ashamed. People commit the worst types of sexual sins, and they do not even blush. Of course, the Planned Parenthood videos with people eating salad and drinking wine while talking about saving the parts of unborn babies so they can be sold, is a recent example. However, we could go on and on. America seems to be in the same place as Israel and Judah before they were destroyed.
That is why I have urged all of us to pray fervently for revival in the church and an awakening in our country. Our only hope is to turn to the Lord fully. Then, the Holy Spirit will be able to bring us to shame over our sins and to blush over our abominations. When we see that, we will know God's deliverance is near.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 7-9.
