Trying to Hide Sins from God
Believe me, as believers, we can't hide any of our sins from the Lord. He knows the sins we commit by doing the wrong thing, and He knows the sins that are the good things we omit. If we try to hide them, we will not prosper. (Proverbs 28:13) However, there is a way to receive the mercy of God when we sin.
Instead of trying to cover up our sins and hide them, we must confess them. We must bring them out into the open, and at least tell God how we have wronged Him by what we have done or what we have failed to do. If we are truly honest with Him, and we are willing to forsake that sin, God will have mercy on us. He will forgive us, and He will cleanse us of that sin, so that it does not affect our relationship with Him.
Of course, the basis for receiving all of God's mercy is surrendering to Jesus Christ as Lord of our lives. He is the One who paid for all of our sins on the Cross. He extends God's mercy to those who trust Him as Lord and Savior, repenting of their sins and surrendering to Him as Lord. Then, we can receive even more mercy for the sins we commit after that, because He does not want them to block our relationship. That is why we must be willing to confess and forsake them. (I John 1:9)
Tomorrow, I intend to read Proverbs 29-31.
